Lead Astray

After a day of rehearsing in the sun Staged Assault are retreating to the shade to go propping, pursue some PR and write our first blog! We're at the end of our second week of rehearsals and this time next week we'll be gearing up for our first ever production, Lead Astray!

Lead Astray
Children should be seen, and not heard
‘The playground was pungent with the smell of rotting flowers, and their photographs, faded by the sun and the wind, had become unrecognisable, grotesque caricatures. Our children had become strangers’.

The media descend upon what they have coined as ‘The Hamelin Hamlet’ to explore and hopefully solve the phenomena of the mass exodus of children from a small unidentified village. While the reporters readily search for a suspect who’ll sell their papers, the parents and guardians are desperate to find someone to blame, not realising the real reason behind their children’s disappearance is much closer to home than they think.

Obscure, unsettling, and thought provoking Lead Astray is a reworking of the Pied Piper of Hamelin fable. Focusing on the personal background of one child in particular, and the family left behind, the play  offers an alternative insight behind the tragedy of missing children and an examination of the effect media intervention can have on such cases.

Lead Astray takes place on Friday 8 June at 6.30pm in The Factory and Sunday 10 June, at 12pm Upstairs at the MAC. It lasts approx. 1 hour with no interval. Tickets are £6  and they can be purchased on the MAC website http://themaclive.com/whats-on/lead-astray/
Our cast consists of Matt Faris, Glenn Hamill, Rob Killalay and Emma Walls, while our creative team is comprised of costume design by Erin Charteris, light & sound design by Siobhan Barbour, stage management & PR by Simon Welch, directing stage management by Nuala Donnelly and direction from myself, Helen Donnelly.

Tomorrow we'll be updating with some rehearsal shots, but until then why don't you follow us on twitter (www.twitter.com/staged_assault) or connect with us on Facebook (www.facebook.com/stagedassaulttheatrecompany)

Enjoy the sun!
